Ingredients
- 1 bunch Swiss chard, stems and leaves separated
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or try sesame oil for extra nutty flavor!
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ tsp sea salt + pepper to taste
- Juice of ½ lemon
- ⅓ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: add 1/2 teaspoon of minced fennel or parsley
Instructions
- Prep the chard: Wash thoroughly. Chop stems into ½-inch pieces; coarsely chop leaves.
- Sauté stems: In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heaat. Add stems and cook 7–8 min until softened.
- Add garlic: Stir in garlic and cook 2 min until fragrant.
- Wilt leaves: Add remaining oil and chard leaves. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook 4 min until wilted.
- Brighten & finish: Uncover, stir in lemon juice, and cook 2 more min. Remove from heat and sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Serve hot: Great with grilled meats, pasta, or crusty bread.

- For extra depth, add a splash of white wine or sherry with the stems.
