Reclaimed Quilt Decor

Quilts are a part of Americana that tells many stories. Over the years though, some quilts have been loved to the point of being thread-bare, while others are discarded, or passed down to people that no longer want them. How to find joy in a bit of a sad story of a sweet old quilt? Give it a new life as decor that can be used for celebration and decoration!

I’ve been collecting old quilts for quite some time now, knowing that I would turn them into goods that could be treasured once again. What I have now is a collection ranging from garlands to pillows, and they are meant to be enjoyed year after year.

To make these pieces, I set out to use every inch of the quilt as possible, bringing together as much of it as I can in order to honor the person who crafted it in the first place. What this means is each shape is a slightly different, and stains, paint, and even tiny repairs are made, giving just a little more story to the piece. No one piece is identical to another, and that’s what makes them so unique. Some of the quilts are so tattered that I decided to not risk further damage, and you might see a little fabric tear; all of this lends itself to the continuing journey of that quilt, allowing it to bring it’s more primitive beginnings to our more modern times. History preserved in an artistic piece I hope you’ll love.

The pillows are super soft, and perfect for a sofa, entry bench, and tucked on a shelf next to other items. Garlands are great on archways, across mantles, or gracing the edge of a shelf.

When choosing yours, I can only offer you shapes and a palette of the particular season we’re in. I can’t really offer super specific colors/patterns because I’m working with a variety of quilts and grainsacks. What you see in the sample photos are the styles I have for that season.

Pro Tip: Perfect for gifting, decorating.
